~ mid century dresser as a bathroom vanity
There are several reasons I like this idea.
1. It can be less expensive ~ depending on where you purchase it.
2. It's usually more wood and less plywood base
3. It's lighter to carry up the stairs
4. They have more drawer space.
There are no shortages of tutorials on line on how to do it ~ via a webpage or a youtube.

You would have the stone fabricator cut you a piece of stone to fit your top. Because they are small ~ you can choose a remnant and not a full slab.
If the cabinet is not tall enough (which is most likely) ~ you choose an above mount sink. Many times these sinks only use a single faucet.

I'm thinking that Pittsburgh - would have a lot of mid century in the resale shops.

It's easy to refurbish - just a light sandpaper all over and a new stain applied. Because it's a bathroom - you might put a coat of glaze to protect.
