CARPET CHOICES
I know this looks light - but it will darken in the darker room.
POLYESTER CARPET
Instead of the average 10-15 year lifespan of some other carpets, polyester will last between 5 and 10 years on average. With large amounts of foot traffic that can be even less. Polyester carpet is a great option for a good variety of people.
Higher density makes a more durable carpet. Thick carpet is better if you like a plusher feel. However, thick carpet is not better if you want a more durable carpet. Density (more yarn per square inch), will provide better durability.
It's a good choice for family rooms and other high-traffic areas. The last consideration is face weight (weight of the carpet pile) per square yard. ... As an example, within one product line the "good-level" carpet has a face weight of 40 oz.; the "best-level" weighs in at 63 oz.
This has 40 oz. / vs 60 oz.
$1614 vs $1854 for 600 sq ft $240 difference. So little ~ I would get the 60 oz.
YOUR CHOICES:
THOUGHTS:
The Sherwin Williams Passive Paint is light in tone ~ except in this large room that has little light/ so many angles/ and low ceiling.
Personally I think a lighter shag with multi color will enhance the room and blend better with the painted walls. The darker tones you've chosen will make this too dark and drab.
Originally I didn't like white flecks in carpet ~ but this one is growing on me. The white flex will bring out the white in the baseboards and window trims.
I also like the fact that it has some brown tones that warm up the light gray coloration. There is so much blue in the paint color that the true gray and black will clash. Yes, it will hide dirt but at what cost to the aesthetics to the room?
This is the sample you shot while in the showroom by your office of a solid gray shag.
