~ sunroom with lots of windows and a fireplace ~

This is dedicated to my sister-in-law and her new home.  Unfortunately, I didn't take photos while there.....

There's nothing better than bringing the outside in by having an enclosed sunroom.  The one I have in mind has 5 windows across the back and another 2 on the side that gets loads of afternoon light.  It also has a huge opening to the kitchen and an extension of the living room because there is an open fireplace between them.

But ~ the fact that it is also located in Buffalo means that it might be a bit chilly in the winter time.  So we need to make this a year round place to curl up in.

My thoughts are a pair of chaise lounges. That would be placed in front of the windows facing the fireplace.

And if there isn't room - one will do for curling up for a nap or reading a book with the grandkids.

You can find a chaise lounge here:

I like the sample photo - with the stripe slipcovers and no skirt so the legs show.  It's casual but difficult to find ~ especially at a price.

Some fabric choices.

Astere Cocoa

Curious Pearl

Steadman Neutral

Zula Linen

This dark linen is actually my favorite.  One, it won't show dirt, Two it's casual and neutral - Linen is not so formal.  It may fade though in the bright sun ~ but that gives it a more aged look.

MY LOVE IS THE FRENCH FARM HOUSE

NEXT

Place a small farm table between them with a chair.
The one I'm thinking of has a vintage metal top so the grandkids can color and not make a mess.  Ok, the mess will happen but nothing will get ruined.

And paint the bottom an antique white.  The one above may be a very light blue ~ but note how they sanded down the paint.

See why you use a antique white and not a full white.  This is too bright above.

Remember the girl at the Antique World who had a stall with the ladders and baskets......

Additional Looks:

Rattan instead of wicker.  The ceiling is painted soft aqua.  Great Lamp with the spindle wood.

Shabby Chic - slip cover over sized chair and wicker side chair.  Ceiling is also painted.  If the kitchen were painted the soft blue - then maybe repeat in the sunroom ceiling.

The ladder is there and box pleated daybed.  Also suitcases piled high and a chandelier.

Again with the painted ceiling. But they are beadboard.

Rooms need curtains and carpets - they add warmth and help with the acoustics!  But curtains can add up.  Try painters drop clothes - wash them at least 2 times to get the protective coating smell out of them - and less stiff.

I used these in Brad's apartment.

Now the breakfast room is an extension of the sunroom and can be seen from the living room.

Change out the backsplash - you can keep the counters.

Note the bottom cabinets are painted farmhouse green.
Change the hardware.

Paint the crown molding white.

Breakfast area:

What we saw while treasure hunting.

These are all probably sold by now.  I wrote this blog 2 months ago.  But you get the idea.........

Great look for the price - but there is no extension to this table.

Paul said he would mark this table down to $250.

And after painting and adding some darker stain to the top - it can look like this.

Love the legs of this but there is some damage.  Just add some wood putty to the areas needed and build it up slightly and repaint.

And darken the stain.

And if you don't like white - Black is another option.

SUGGESTION:
Find a photo on Pinterest - and follow it.

Love this idea for the dining room

Just add chairs.

This is where you can head to Craig's list or Offer Up.  There's even Let it Go.

Mix and match is fun - or find something unique you can spray up and add fabric to.

Can't go wrong with this price.  Spray Painted white and add striped fabric.

or be different and add a French X back

THEN ADD CABINET:

For a change of pace ~ you might consider moving your China hutch from the dining room to the breakfast room.  Remove the doors so items that are displayed can be seen.  Even paint it.

GREAT PRICE!

Of course I want to paint it!
