CURTAINS ON A BUDGET

Wall Colors ~ Frosty White SW6196

The fabric says black out ~ they are opaque ~ not a true black out.
Ralph Lauren

Machine Washable
$25 a PAIR ~  96" long.

I finished them but because of COVID-19 ~ I can't send them.  This was week 1 of the stay at home project.
3 sets.

Your Room
Curtain below Window apron ~ above floor.

Short curtain ~ 10" below window apron.  Not in the way of the walk area or the electrical outlets.

1. Your ceilings are so tall you will need 108" curtains to reach the floor.  That gets costly.

2. Curtains come in 50" width / SINGLE panel when pricing.  You would need 6 panels @ an average cost of $75 - $120 each.
I bought these at Home Goods for $50 / PAIR ($150 total).
 3 pairs.
But they are only 96" long.

3. My idea is to have them drop about 10" BELOW the window Apron (not sill) ~ 22" above the floor.

4. The curtain rod mounted 7" above the window ~ makes the curtain length = 88" long.

5. I would cut the top of these curtains and make a new casing for the hooks ~ keeping the clean hem intacted.

6. The new casing would be gathered and not pleated to give it a fresh feel.

For more privacy and color ~ you can have a cafe curtain on a tension rod.

The curtains will sit above the rod - filling up more space to the ceiling.

3 row Gathering tape.
The curtains will sit 3-4" above the rod ~ closer to the ceiling.

1. The curtains = 50" wide each x 2 panels = 100" width.

2. The rod would extend 3.5" past your window frame on both sides.   Window frame = 39".  Rod length = 46".  (Plus finial)

3. Therefore: curtain gathering can only be 1/2" it's total width to cover the window when pulled closed. (2 times its width)

I have 96" to work with ~ plenty of fabric for additional hem and casing at top.

The small striped sheers ~ were from Tuesday Morning @ $15 a PAIR.  I purchased 4 pairs.  Each panel can be cut to make another cafe.   I used the bottom of each and only cut the top ~ because these actually had weights in them for a better finish.  There is enough left over to make cafes thru his entire home.  lol.

Total investment for all the material is $135 ~ therefore the 3 windows priced out at $45 each without hardware... and still more fabric available.

$63.60 each panel
25" x 108"
Total cost $381.60
dry clean only

Before I do the work ~ let me know ~ I can take them back.
