~ some new floor samples
Just when I thought we had finalized our choice on flooring - new items come available. Thank heavens you can get 5 samples for free very quickly.
I've enlarge these on the blog so I can actually visualize them in a room.
Our original selection. But note: the price is increased to $3.09. It has a 30 year residential warranty and is 8-8.9mm thick with a rubber backing. 9" wide.
The sample doesn't come off as dark as the photo from the website.
----------------------------------------------------
I really like the softness to this flooring - however, samples are not yet available.
This is extra long planks at 60" and 7" wide. 8.0 mm thick. $3.09 sq ft
It's a lighter shade of brown and not as busy because the color is more uniform.
30 year warranty
----------------------------------------------------
"Weathered" has the 3 colors we are using - gray to match our cabinets and tiling, brown for the rustic earthiness, and a touch of rust to accent the uncovered bricks.
The sample I have in my hand is gorgeous with all our colors - but this photo shows a lot of pattern. We didn't go forward with it because of the amount of black in it. And it's very matte.
Isn't this a fun idea to cover the red brick fireplaces with the wood flooring. Then add some small tile accent for the hearth and a reclaimed wood mantel.

ENGLISH PINE
I'm loving the barn wood look of this - it's light enough but enough brown and gray tones for interest.
When you were thinking of using old pine 2 x 4 - this will have the look.
7" x 48" 8.5mm thick $2.74 sq ft
20 year residential
----------------------------------------------------
Plymouth
9 x 60" 8.5mm $2.89
wear thickness 1/2"
Lifetime Residential
----------------------------------------------------
GIBRALTAR
9 x 60" 8.5mm $2.89
Dark Shade Lifetime Residential
----------------------------------------------------
QUEENTOWN
7 x 60" 8.5mm $3.07 sq ft
Has Gray - Medium color
25 residential warranty
So we narrowed it down to 2 - which are so similar I had to put them together for comparison.
The top is Gibraltar
and the bottom is Fango.

and the bottom is Fango.
My interpretation is that Fango is darker and rougher. Gibraltar is softer all around.
Bad thing - Gilbraltar is on sale for $2.72 sq ft and Fango is $3.09
At $.37 difference X 1000 sq ft = $370. That's not going to kill the budget.
